We initially contacted Claire to help us with a landscape design, intending to do much of the work ourselves over a period of time. In that design process, Claire was responsive to our ideas and had plenty of great suggestions as we worked together to design a plan we were excited about. After a couple years, we realized it was time to simply hire someone to execute on the vision and contacted Claire again for her project oversight services. Claire was eager to jump back into our project, recommending a great contractor and helping our project get off the ground quickly. We appreciated having Claire advocate for the original design vision throughout landscaping work. She made working with the contractor smooth and we were reassured that everything would be completed, on the clearly communicated timeline, as we expected. We are very happy with our new landscaping. We initially engaged Claire at Hardwick Garden Design to create a comprehensive landscape design for our front, back, and side yards, totaling a little less than 1/4 acre of space. Most of the space was taken up by a concrete patio, a rotten wooden deck, and more gravel than you could believe.

Her detailed intake survey meant that she was already well-informed even for our initial consultation phone call. The design process was so easy – Claire was so communicative and professional, and took all of our preferences into account. When we saw the detailed finished plans and the plant guides, we were so excited about the designs she produced for us that we immediately hired her for her project oversight services to execute her vision for our yard.

I highly recommend not only her design services but also her project oversight. From sourcing an excellent landscape contractor to coordinating payments, picking out the plants and laying them out on site, handling change orders and coming up with alternatives when materials were unavailable or unforeseen site issues meant an initial design wouldn’t work, her services were absolutely invaluable. Not only that, the 3 months of construction were almost entirely stress-free for us as Claire’s communication meant we always knew what was going on and what next steps were, whether the project was on track, and that any issues that came up were promptly handled.

Our family is so happy with our new landscaping, which includes a beautiful paver patio, plenty of lawn space for our dog, an herb garden near our kitchen, and a beautifully landscaped but still low-maintenance front yard (with water feature!). It’s everything that we dreamed our yard could be and more, and it’s so much more beautiful than we could have imagined at the start of this process. We’re looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come.

When I set out to overhaul my small space garden, I was hoping to find a local landscape designer.

When I met with Claire, I knew I had found a match. She listened to my long list of ideas and the ways in which I wanted to use my small garden space. She created a visually interesting and practical garden with several uses and focal points including raised vegetable gardens, an herb garden, a new patio with a short retaining wall for extra seating, and a winding gravel path.

Claire provided photo examples of what the hardscape and plantings would look like so that I could picture it beforehand. Claire patiently addressed my questions and sent me links and information to help clarify her responses. She responded thoughtfully to condo association design review comments and changes
